Meet David Sierra
Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. My name is David H. Sierra, and I am honored to be a candidate for the Senate representing the St. Thomas–St. John District of the United States Virgin Islands. I believe leadership is about serving others with integrity, faith, accountability, and compassion. My commitment has always been to the people of these islands, and I am running to help build a stronger future for our community.
Early Life and Education
David H. Sierra was born on September 2, 1968, in New York City. At the age of five, he moved with his family to St. Thomas, where he was raised and educated. A proud graduate of Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, Class of 1987, David has always considered the Virgin Islands his home. His commitment to lifelong learning led him to earn a ministerial degree from Word of Faith International Christian Ministries in Southfield, Michigan, in 2005, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Grand Canyon University in 2016.
A Lifetime of Public Service
David Sierra has devoted his career to serving the people of the United States Virgin Islands. Over the years, he has worked in several government agencies, including the Department of Education, Fire Services, and the Department of Labor. Through each position, he has gained firsthand knowledge of the challenges facing our community and the importance of responsive, accountable government.
In addition to his public service, David has been a licensed barber in the Virgin Islands for more than three decades. Today, he serves as a Barber Instructor at the Ralph O. Wheatley Skill Center, where he enjoys mentoring and preparing the next generation with valuable career skills. His work reflects his lifelong belief that investing in people is one of the greatest ways to strengthen our community.
A Calling to Serve
For many years, David has felt a deep conviction that public service through elected office was part of God’s purpose for his life. Rather than standing on the sidelines and simply hoping for change, he believes the time has come to answer that calling. With faith as his foundation and a heart for service, David is committed to working alongside the people of the Virgin Islands to build a stronger, more accountable, and more prosperous future for generations to come.
A Personal Message
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. I believe the future of the United States Virgin Islands is filled with hope and opportunity if we lead with integrity, work together, and always place the needs of our people first. Serving this community has been one of the greatest privileges of my life, and I would be honored to earn your trust, your support, and your vote. Together, we can build stronger communities, create greater opportunities, and leave a lasting legacy for future generations.
